Players and monsters using such drastically different rules for determining Hit Dice is difficult to wrap my head around. Using Hit Dice to adjust average health as well as maximum and minimum health seems more interesting than simply using Constitution. Monsters rarely, if ever, have a chance to spend Hit Dice, so that doesn't seem to be relevant. Is there a balance issue with designing a Medium creature that uses d10 Hit Dice? I only wish to know if it there's a domino effect I'd be unaware of in doing such a thing. More Hit Dice are added to give monsters more HP, along with adjusting their Constitution. Monsters' Hit Dice in D&D 5e are usually determined by the creature's size, the most commonly used ones being d8s for Medium creatures and d10s for Large (or at least in my games). Here's a balance question that I hope isn't too ridiculous. There's a lot of hullabaloo about CR and how difficult it is to use. Hit both Xs that appear near the now-revealed switch and the secret room fully reveals itself.Īnd there you have it, you've solved The Medium's clock puzzle and accessed Thomas' secret room.I've been a long time DM for Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, but I'm only now getting a solid grasp of designing monsters and monster encounters. ![]() There's no prompt for this, but you need to inspect it and use Marianne's Insight ability (hold left bumper) to see the outline of an obscured switch. Leave your sprit form after that.īack in the real world, the entrance to the hidden room you passed through in the spirit world is blocked by a wooden unit full of photo frames and trinkets. Unleash the spirit energy you collected earlier (hold right trigger) and you'll see sparks running along the wall towards the hidden room's entrance. Inside the room, there's a fuse box against the far wall, just like the one that you needed to power up the lift earlier in the game. Just make sure you don't spend too long in this form, as it can kill you if you don't return to your body in time. Only spirit Marianne can enter this space, so you'll need to initiate an 'out-of-body experience' (hold B) to get in. Next, go back forward to one of the times above that the secret door is open. To proceed you need to scroll to the earliest possible point, back out with B, and approach the desk with the spirit well blooming, and absorb it as spirit world Marianne (A). You'll notice, however, that as your scrubbing through time, a door in the far corner reveals itself-this is the secret room. Once you get to four o'clock, you can go no earlier.
